19-year-old youth hacked to death in Tirunelveli

Madurai: A 19-year-old youth was hacked to death by a gang due to previous enmity in Tirunelveli on Friday night.The deceased youth was identified as Suresh, of VOC Nagar near Pettai in Tirunelveli.According to police sources, Suresh who was working as a construction labourer had several previous cases against him including sale of ganja and robbery. A few months back, Suresh was arrested by the Arumuganeri police for possession of ganja. Suresh, who was in jail, came out on bail on Friday morning.On Friday night, when Suresh was standing in front of a construction site near his house, a gang who came on a two-wheeler attacked him using sickles and escaped from the spot. Suresh was rushed to the Tirunelveli Govt Medical College Hospital; however, the doctors declared him brought dead. The Pettai police have registered a case and are on a lookout for the people involved in the murder.
