Rangapara Assembly Constituency
Rangapara is one of the 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam. It is a General category seat located in Sonitpur district and forms part of the Tezpur Lok Sabha constituency, which comprises nine Assembly segments.
In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, the total number of electors in the Rangapara constituency stood at 1,66,718.
Of these, 1,31,909 valid votes were cast. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Krishna Kamal Tanti won the seat with 70,172 votes.
His nearest rival, Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Abhijit Hazarika, secured 47,827 votes. Tanti won the election by a margin of 22,345 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Rangapara had a total of 1,36,999 electors, with 1,17,485 valid votes polled.
BJP’s Pallab Lochan Das emerged victorious with 51,597 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Bhimananda Tanti, who garnered 28,606 votes. Das won by a margin of 22,991 votes.
