Sarupathar Assembly Constituency
Sarupathar Assembly constituency is a general category seat located in Golaghat district of Assam.
It is now part of the newly created Kaziranga Parliamentary constituency. Earlier, it was an assembly segment of the Kaliabor Lok Sabha seat, which was replaced during the 2023 delimitation exercise.
In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,67,596 registered voters, with 2,07,986 valid votes cast.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Biswajit Phukan won the seat with 1,07,090 votes. Congress candidate Roselina Tirkey finished second with 67,731 votes, losing by a margin of 39,359 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Sarupathar had 2,26,640 electors, with 1,86,263 valid votes recorded. Congress candidate Roselina Tirkey won the seat with 67,150 votes, defeating Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Binod Gowalla, who secured 64,223 votes. The victory margin was 2,927 votes.
