Rangia is an assembly constituency (No. 57) in Assam's Kamrup district, part of the Mangaldoi Lok Sabha constituency. It covers rural and semi-urban areas around Rangiya town, known for agriculture and proximity to Guwahati.
BJP's Bhabesh Kalita won decisively in 2021 with 84,844 votes (52.11per cent share) and a 20,220-vote margin over CPI(M)'s Bhagaban Dev Misra (64,624 votes, 39.69per cent). He defended his 2016 victory with 58,353 votes (40.72per cent).
The area has a 2011 census population of about 245,439 (84.45per cent rural), with 5.95per cent Scheduled Castes and 20.25per cent Scheduled Tribes; literacy supports an engaged electorate of 197,669 voters across 226 polling stations.
