Dimoria Assembly Election Results 2026

Dimoria Assembly constituency is one of the 126 constituencies in the Assam Legislative Assembly, created as a new Scheduled Castes (SC) reserved seat in the 2023 delimitation exercise. It is located in Kamrup Metro district on the eastern periphery of Guwahati and falls under the Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency covers a semi-urban and rural fringe area adjacent to the expanding Guwahati metropolitan region. The main political parties in Assam include the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Bodoland People's Front (BPF), United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM). As a newly created constituency, Dimoria (SC) does not carry a direct 2021 result. The Gauhati-Kamrup belt saw decisive BJP wins in 2021: Dispur was held by BJP's Atul Bora and Jalukbari by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma with 92,677-vote margins. In 2026, BJP fields Dr. Tapan Das (on AGP's ticket) while Congress fields Kishor Kumar Baruah for this new SC reserved seat on Guwahati's eastern fringe. The 2026 Assam Assembly elections will test Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's BJP-led government, which swept to power with a comfortable majority in 2021. With the opposition Congress-AIUDF combine seeking to consolidate anti-incumbency sentiment, every constituency will be a crucial battleground in deciding whether the state returns a second consecutive BJP government.
