Ambur Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests among parties such as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s A. C. Vilwanathan won the seat by securing 90,476 votes. He defeated AIADMK’s K. Nazar Mohammed, who secured 70,244 votes. The margin of victory stood at 20,232 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Ambur had a total of 2,12,306 electors, of which 1,61,075 valid votes were polled. AIADMK’s R. Balasubramani (alias) won the seat with 79,182 votes, defeating Manithaneya Makkal Katchi’s V. R. Nazeer Ahmed, who secured 51,176 votes. The margin of victory was 28,006 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,76,519 electors and recorded 1,37,149 valid votes. Manithaneya Makkal Katchi’s A. Aslam Basha won the seat with 60,361 votes, defeating Indian National Congress candidate J. Vijay Elanchezian, who secured 55,270 votes. The margin of victory stood at 5,091 votes.
