Bhavani Assembly constituency is located in Erode district of Tamil Nadu and forms part of the Tiruppur Lok Sabha constituency. The seat lies in the Kongu region of western Tamil Nadu and represents a mix of agrarian and trading communities centred around the Bhavani town. Elections here have largely seen contests between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and regional parties such as the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,28,069 electors, with 1,88,950 valid votes polled. AIADMK candidate K C Karuppanan secured victory with 85,748 votes, defeating DMK candidate N Sivakumar, who polled 60,861 votes. The margin of victory stood at 24,887 votes, giving the AIADMK a comfortable win in the constituency.

AIADMK candidate P G Narayanan won the seat with 87,121 votes, defeating PMK candidate K S Mahendran, who secured 59,080 votes. The winning margin of 28,041 votes reflected strong support for the AIADMK during that election cycle.
Historically, the constituency has witnessed varied political outcomes. PMK candidate K V Ramanathan won the seat in 2006, while AIADMK’s K C Karuppanan secured victory in 2001. Earlier, the 1996 election saw Tamil Maanila Congress candidate S N Balasubramanian win the seat, indicating that Bhavani has experienced shifting political preferences influenced by alliances and broader electoral trends in Tamil Nadu.
