Rasipuram Assembly constituency is located in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste category. The constituency forms part of the Namakkal Lok Sabha constituency and has largely witnessed electoral contests between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), reflecting the broader political rivalry between the two Dravidian parties in the region.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,21,806 electors, with 1,86,869 valid votes polled. AIADMK candidate Dr V Saroja secured victory with 86,901 votes, defeating DMK candidate Duraisamy V P, who polled 77,270 votes. The margin of victory stood at 9,631 votes, indicating a competitive electoral contest between the two major parties.
