Peravurani Assembly constituency is in Thanjavur district. The seat has seen shifting allegiances among the DMK, AIADMK, and TMC(M) over the decades. In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s N. Ashok Kumar won the seat with 89,130 votes, defeating AIADMK’s S. V. Thirugnana Sambandam, who secured 65,627 votes. The margin of victory was 23,503 votes. In the 2016 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s M. Govindarasu won the seat with 73,908 votes, defeating DMK’s N. Ashok Kumar, who received 72,913 votes. The margin of victory was a narrow 995 votes. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Arun Pandian (contesting for the DMDK under the AIADMK alliance) won the seat with 70,716 votes, defeating INC’s K. Mahendran, who secured 43,891 votes. The margin of victory was 26,825 votes.
