Sholingur Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests among major regional and national parties over the years, including the Indian National Congress (INC), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, Indian National Congress candidate A. N. Munirathinam won the seat with 1,10,228 votes. He defeated Pattali Makkal Katchi’s A. M. Krishnan, who secured 83,530 votes. The margin of victory stood at 24,878 votes.
Earlier, in the 2006 Assembly elections, Sholingur recorded 1,38,112 valid votes polled. Indian National Congress candidate Arul Anbarasu D won the seat with 63,502 votes, defeating AIADMK’s Gopal C, who secured 55,586 votes. The margin of victory was 7,916 votes.
In the 2001 Assembly elections, the constituency had a total of 1,75,100 electors, of which 1,24,842 valid votes were polled. AIADMK’s Vilvanathan R won the seat with 62,576 votes, defeating Puthiya Needhi Katchi’s Ponnurangam A. M, who secured 52,781 votes. The margin of victory stood at 9,795 votes.
