Gingee Assembly constituency is located in Tamil Nadu and has seen electoral contests mainly between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK candidate K. S. Masthan won the seat by securing 1,09,625 votes. He defeated PMK candidate M. P. S. Rajendran, who secured 73,822 votes. The margin of victory was 35,803 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Gingee constituency had a total of 2,51,396 electors, of which 2,01,024 valid votes were polled. DMK candidate K. S. Masthan won the seat with 88,440 votes, defeating AIADMK candidate A. Govindasamy, who secured 66,383 votes. The margin of victory was 22,057 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,13,724 electors and recorded 1,74,449 valid votes. PMK candidate A. Ganesh Kumar won the seat with 77,026 votes, defeating DMDK candidate R. Sivalingam, who secured 75,215 votes. The margin of victory was 1,811 votes.
