Vikravandi Assembly constituency is located in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu and has seen shifting political preferences between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) over the past two election cycles, reflecting a competitive multi-cornered contest.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,18,619 electors, with 1,78,637 valid votes polled. DMK’s Rathamani K secured victory with 63,757 votes, defeating AIADMK’s Velu R by a margin of 6,912 votes, indicating a closely fought battle.
