Polur Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests mainly between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), along with the presence of parties such as the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s S. S. Krishnamoorthy won the seat by securing 97,732 votes. He defeated DMK’s K. V. Sekaran, who secured 88,007 votes. The margin of victory stood at 9,725 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Polur had a total of 2,27,936 electors, of which 1,95,714 valid votes were polled. DMK’s K. V. Sekaran won the seat with 66,588 votes, defeating AIADMK’s M. Murugan, who secured 58,315 votes. The margin of victory was 8,273 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,96,477 electors and recorded 1,66,702 valid votes. AIADMK’s L. Jayasudha won the seat with 92,391 votes, defeating PMK’s G. Edirolimanian, who secured 63,846 votes. The margin of victory stood at 28,545 votes.
