Hosur Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests among major parties such as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Indian National Congress (INC).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s Y. Prakaash won the seat by securing 1,18,231 votes. He defeated AIADMK’s S. Jyothi Balakrishna Reddy, who secured 1,05,864 votes. The margin of victory stood at 12,367 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Hosur had a total of 3,02,410 electors, of which 2,15,231 valid votes were polled. AIADMK’s P. Balakrishna Reddy won the seat with 89,510 votes, defeating Indian National Congress candidate K. Gopinath, who secured 66,546 votes. The margin of victory was 22,964 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,29,478 electors and recorded 1,72,106 valid votes. Indian National Congress candidate K. Gopinath won the seat with 65,034 votes, defeating Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam’s S. John Timothy, who secured 50,882 votes. The margin of victory stood at 14,152 votes.
