Palacode Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests mainly between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), with AIADMK maintaining a strong presence in the seat across multiple election cycles.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s K. P. Anbalagan won the seat by securing 1,10,070 votes. He defeated DMK’s P. K. Murugan, who secured 81,970 votes. The margin of victory stood at 28,100 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Palacode had a total of 2,13,136 electors, of which 1,88,767 valid votes were polled. AIADMK’s K. P. Anbalagan won the seat with 76,143 votes, defeating DMK’s P. K. Murugan, who secured 70,160 votes. The margin of victory was 5,983 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,80,193 electors and recorded 1,56,258 valid votes. AIADMK’s K. P. Anbalagan won the seat with 94,877 votes, defeating Pattali Makkal Katchi’s V. Selvam, who secured 51,664 votes. The margin of victory stood at 43,213 votes.
