Tiruttani Assembly constituency, designated as Constituency No. 3, is a semi-rural, temple-centric seat located along Tamil Nadu’s northern boundary with Andhra Pradesh. The presence of the Thiruthani Murugan Temple—one of the six sacred Arupadai Veedu—plays a central role in shaping the region’s social, economic and political life, with pilgrimage forming a key part of local activity. The constituency also holds national significance as the birthplace of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s first Vice-President and a former President. Key issues in the constituency include pollution from nearby industrial activity, water shortages in rural pockets, poorly maintained roads in panchayat areas, accident-prone stretches along NH-16, inadequate government healthcare facilities, and the need for improved drinking water pipeline networks. In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK candidate S Chandran won the seat with 1,20,314 votes, defeating AIADMK’s G Hari, who secured 91,061 votes, by a margin of 29,253 votes.Earlier, in the 2016 polls, the constituency saw AIADMK candidate Narasimhan P M emerge victorious with 93,045 votes, defeating Congress candidate Chidambaram A G, who secured 69,904 votes, by a margin of 23,141 votes.
