Krishnagiri Assembly constituency is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and has witnessed electoral contests mainly between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), along with the presence of parties such as the Indian National Congress (INC).
In the 2021 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s K. Ashok Kumar won the seat by securing 96,050 votes. He narrowly defeated DMK’s T. Senguttuvan, who secured 95,256 votes. The margin of victory stood at 794 votes.
Earlier, in the 2016 Assembly elections, Krishnagiri had a total of 2,48,873 electors, of which 2,00,092 valid votes were polled. DMK’s T. Senguttuvan won the seat with 87,637 votes, defeating AIADMK’s V. Govindaraj, who secured 82,746 votes. The margin of victory was 4,891 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,01,926 electors and recorded 1,60,379 valid votes. AIADMK’s K. P. Munusamy won the seat with 89,776 votes, defeating Indian National Congress candidate Syed Ghiyas Ul Haq, who secured 60,679 votes. The margin of victory stood at 29,097 votes.
